In a landslide vote, QC rep. Sonny Belmonte  got his 3rd non consecutive speakership of the House of Representatives with  245 votes

But with the administration Liberal party and its allies  firming up its majority in the House after the midterm election, this really wasn’t a surprise.

Which is why the real story for congressional media and observers was who would be minority leader—the 1st runner up in the speakership race.

Belmonte’s rivals, Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez 16 votes  and san Juan rep. Ronaldo Zamora 18 votes,     giving the new minority leader a razor thin margin.
